Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger Tubing & U-Tube Fabrication

JW Industrial Solutions supplies stainless steel heat exchanger tubing and drawing-based tube components to heat-exchanger manufacturers and industrial OEMs. Supply forms include straight lengths, cut pieces, U-tubes, coils and project-packed components, subject to drawing and specification review. This page covers the tubes and fabricated tube parts used in heat exchangers, not a complete heat-exchanger unit.

Buyers comparing a heat exchanger tubing manufacturer or supply partner can use this page to understand the engineering review of materials, dimensions, inspection, processing and delivery. Start an enquiry with your design drawings in any format; our team will discuss the project with you.

Seamless or Welded Heat Exchanger Tubing

Material and manufacturing route should be selected against pressure, temperature, corrosion conditions, fabrication, inspection, and the equipment design. Stainless steel grades such as 304/304L or 316/316L can be reviewed, subject to the applicable standard, dimensions, production route, and approved purchase specification.

  • ASTM A213/A213M: the ASTM scope covers seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy-steel boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger tubes. Review the current ASTM A213/A213M product page for the published standard scope; JW reviews the applicable revision against the customer drawing and project specification.
  • ASTM A249/A249M: the ASTM scope covers welded austenitic steel boiler, superheater, heat-exchanger, and condenser tubes. Review the ASTM A249/A249M product page and confirm the required revision.
  • Other specifications: customer drawings, industry requirements, or other tube standards can be reviewed when the complete acceptance criteria are supplied.

Quoting a standard number does not mean every grade, size, tolerance, test, or supplementary requirement is automatically available. JW confirms the feasible scope and manufacturing source for each inquiry.

Critical Purchasing Characteristics

Heat-exchanger performance and assembly can depend on characteristics that are not captured by a general description such as “316L tube.” The customer drawing and JW’s project review establish the critical characteristics and inspection approach. The following are engineering review topics, not a separate form you must complete before enquiring.

  • Outside diameter and wall thickness, including required tolerances
  • Ovality, straightness, cut length, and end condition
  • Material chemistry and grade-specific limits, including molybdenum expectations for 316L
  • Mechanical properties and heat-treatment condition
  • Surface finish, bright-annealing consistency, and cleanliness
  • Eddy-current, hydrostatic, air-pressure, or other required testing
  • Tube marking, heat or batch traceability, MTC, and inspection records
  • Packaging method, end protection, bundle identification, and project sequence

Stainless Steel U-Tubes and Cut-to-Length Supply

Project scope can be reviewed for straight tubes cut to finished length or U-tubes produced from an approved design drawing. There is no need to repeat details already included in the drawing. JW offers high-precision cutting with length tolerances as tight as ±0.05 mm, subject to the part, material, dimensions and feasibility review of the approved drawing.

Feasibility depends on the exact geometry and acceptance requirements. Bend distortion, ovality, wall change, surface condition, and dimensional checks should be agreed before production. For custom tube fabrication orders, JW provides free samples according to the customer requirements, and batch production starts after customer sample approval.

Cleanliness, Traceability and Project Documents

Cleanliness and packaging requirements vary by service and assembly process. JW reviews the cleaning method, acceptance condition, preservation, end protection, package size and labels against the drawing and project requirements, with storage or handling needs discussed during the review.

When specified and agreed, the document package can include material certificates, heat or batch linkage, dimensional inspection, test records, approval drawings, and third-party inspection records. Review our engineering, quality, and traceability workflow.

Inspection and Fabrication Examples

Review the existing workshop demonstrations alongside the requirements on your drawing. These show individual methods; the inspection plan and acceptance criteria for your heat-exchanger tubing order are agreed separately.

For dimensional ranges by supply form, see the stainless steel tubing size comparison. Material, heat treatment and the required standard are reviewed separately for the intended heat-exchanger service.

Applications

Project review is available for industrial process heat exchangers, marine heat exchangers, condensers, water-heating and HVAC equipment, energy systems, data-center cooling assemblies, and other OEM thermal-management equipment. Material selection and fitness for service remain subject to the customer’s engineering design and approved specification.

These photographs show component arrangements and equipment context. The supply scope on this page is stainless steel tubing and drawing-based tube components, not complete heat-exchanger or cooling systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a quotation for heat-exchanger tubes or a complete heat exchanger?

The scope described here is stainless steel tubing and fabricated tube components, including drawing-defined straight lengths and U-tubes. It does not include a complete exchanger or thermal-system design. Send the tube or finished-part drawings for quotation; the equipment designer defines the service requirements, and JW confirms the feasible tube-manufacturing, processing and inspection scope.

Can JW quote ASTM A213 heat exchanger tubing?

ASTM A213/A213M requirements can be reviewed for seamless heat-exchanger tubing. Availability is confirmed against the grade, dimensions, standard revision, testing, documentation, quantity, and approved production route.

Can JW quote welded ASTM A249 heat exchanger tubes?

Yes, subject to review of the required grade, dimensions, standard revision, heat treatment, testing, documentation, and order quantity. See our ASTM A249 welded tubing page for the published coiled-tubing range.

Is 316L available for heat exchanger tubing?

316L requirements can be reviewed. The design drawing provides the product requirements for review. Service environment and frequency of use are helpful additional context, if available.

Can tubing arrive cut, bent, cleaned, and packed by project?

These processing steps can be evaluated from the finished-part drawing and project requirements. Feasibility, tolerances, inspection, MOQ, packaging, and lead time are confirmed in the written quotation.

Does 0.01 mm inspection accuracy mean a 0.01 mm tube tolerance?

No. Measurement accuracy describes the inspection method; the approved drawing defines the product tolerance. The 0.01 mm laser inspection capability concerns outside-diameter measurement under specified conditions. Separately, cutting-length tolerances as tight as ±0.05 mm are subject to part, material, dimensions and drawing-feasibility review. A bore GO plug gauge gives a pass/fail result, not a numerical diameter reading.

Quotations include products and accessories (including hydraulic-cylinder seals), all certificate costs and transportation to the quoted destination. Standard custom-product payment: 30% advance, 70% before shipment. Quotes are available in your requested currency and format. See our quotation and payment terms.
